This new museum's collections illustrate the Pays d’Apt's various economic activities including faience, candied fruit and ochre. The museum charts the area's economic development from traditional small-scale production to the Industrial Age, through recessions and booms, and shows how methods and equipment have evolved through the ages.
Ceramics
- Exhibition of 250 faience pieces from Apt and Castellet, including incense-burners, ewers, plates, dishes, soup tureens, fonts, and teapots. The collection illustrates, in chronological order, the three main stages of the local Faience industry: the beginnings in the 17th century, the industrial revolution in the 19th and the decline of the crafts industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
- Reconstruction of a ceramic potter’s workshop
- Section devoted to architectural ceramics: roof tiles, bricks and floor tiles
Ochre
- Reconstruction of an ochre refining scene
- Machining equipment
- Panels and models describing the extraction, processing and sale of pigments
Preserved fruits
- Exhibition of a collection of labels and packaging used for preserved fruits
- Machinery and tools used in confectionery
- Old factory equipment, etc.
