The Colin d'Albertas Consul's Palace
This palace, a masterpiece of Provencal Baroque, was built at the behest of the Consul d'Albertas in the mid-17th century, at the time Anne of Austria made a pilgrimage to Apt. The palace stands on a shady square in the heart of the aristocratic Old Town, near the cathedral.
Now a private residence, the palace is an exceptional historic monument and the only one of its kind in Provence.
The sumptuous interior, with its sculpted alabaster, magnificent frescoes, painted ceilings and opulent gilt decorations make this one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in France and possibly Europe. The quality of the decor is as fine as any seen anywhere in Europe.
The renovation project won the Sotheby’s Foundation's first prize in 2000.
