Wind mill

This windmill, which once inspired Alphonse Daudet, is typical of the Provence landscape.

In the 17th and 18th centuries there were four mills in Saint Saturnin lès Apt.
Only one still remains, standing on the windy ridge of the village.
Notable features include the sloping roof, specially designed to withstand the Mistral, the sails, and the tiled area where the corn is dried and threshed.

A 2-km (1.2-mile) walk around the mill is the ideal way to explore the village and its picturesque houses, the dam built in 1763, the ruins of the castrum, (Roman camp) the former chapel and the 11th-century castle.
